on the Niles Canyon Railway
featuring
Southern Pacific Lounge Car #2979
Saturday
evening,
3 December,
2010
Come celebrate the
Holiday Season aboard the art-deco former Southern Lounge Car #2979 as we travel
on the Niles Canyon Railway's annual Train of Lights over the route of
the first railroad to enter the Bay Area, from Sunol to Niles and return.
Car 2979 has been decorated for the Holiday festivities, recalling an era now
only a memory, when rail travel was a truly special occasion.
A light supper will be
served at the bar during our journey.
Train departs Sunol at
4.30 p.m., and returns about 5.45 p.m.
FARE: $49.50 which
includes lounge seating in SP 2979 and a light supper.
SP 2979 is owned and
operated by Golden Gate Railroad Museum, and expertly restored by its volunteer
members. Niles Canyon Railway is a project of the Pacific Locomotive
Association, a non profit volunteer organization dedicated to interpreting the
importance of railroads to the development of California.
This program is just
one of the features of our four day Celebrate
the Season Holiday rail outing, 2-5 December, 2011.
